I write like I smoke. Without consistently, or skill…but with immense passion!
Consistency, skill, and a good helping of ‘joie de vivre’ do not automatically guarantee the creation of thought provoking, long lasting, or beautiful/unique images in the world of photography. Occasionally though, a piece surprises & surpasses my original intention.
I am honored to say this self portrait-from last October’s blog, It Figures #241, was accepted into the upcoming and much anticipated “Dreaming Hazel Dooney”exhibit, at the La Trobe Contemporary Gallery, in Morwell, Victoria AU. (Fuck yes, I’m sending it to Australia!!!!)
The show, which opens May 6th, will include work by artists from around the globe that has been (directly or indirectly) inspired by our perception of artist Hazel Dooney, as we’ve experienced through her stunning art work & formidable/prolific online presence. My interaction with Hazel (whom I admire, but have not met) is limited to a few brief email and twitter exchanges. Contact which left me reeling from an unexpected, complex, quagmire of feelings.
I’ve yet to sort them out…
C’est la vie!
